Another S Family

Meet my bestie, BFF, sister from another mister and her gorge family.  Legend has it I met my bestie during my second semester of student teaching.  You see, during my first semester I pretty much made up my mind that I didn't want to be a teacher anymore.  I literally cried in my car all the way  home each day.  It was not the most pleasant experience.  Then I came to Olathe and met my mentor teacher and we became pretty fast friends.  She made me see that teaching could be fun again and you could have a life outside of your job.  She claims she doesn't remember telling me this, but I always think about how she said, "Teaching is my job, it's not my life," and to remember to have fun with my co-workers and not take my work home.  Along with her, I made lifelong friends.
Soon I got a job teaching with my BFF and we pretty much lived happily ever after.  Imagine the 22ish and 25ish versions of ourselves going out and telling people we were teachers.  We got a lot of, "Teachers weren't like you two when I was in school!"  I won't go into exact detail as to why stand-up young men would say that about us.  We were certainly on our best behavior.  There were many happy hours, phone calls, therapy sessions, road trips, rolling our eyes at our husbands, comforting each other because there are times when our kids drive us nutty, sometimes making poor decisions and many, many, many laughs as you can see from this morning I got to spend with this adorable family.  Love you bestie.  Love your family.  Probably wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am today without everything you've done for me!

Happy Fall Y'All {Pumpkin Patch Edition}

It may or may not be a true story that until this year my son thought the pumpkin patch was out front of Hen House.  I'm not what you would call "outdoorsy" and I am quite the bargain shopper.  I wasn't really interested in paying to search around in a field for a pumpkin plus overpay again once we found the perfect one.  I know.  Bah Humbug.  It just isn't my thing.  However, that may have all changed this year.
A Groupon came up for a Family Fun Fest at a patch in Spring Hill and I Sprung...haha...on it.  It was actually pretty fabulous.  FREE shakes, fries and tacos from Jack in the Box, live music, human hamster balls, corn maze, tricycle track, kiddie zip line, horses, face painting, tractor pull, hayride and giant trampoline thing.  It was like a little hidden jewel.  Of course all things are better when you have your buddies with you!

The S Family

Let's review.  Here are the things I know I am; mother, wife, daughter, bargain shopper, foods teacher, movie and magazine junkie, sugaraholic.  Now for the things I pretend I am; runner, soccer mom, a person who has it all together, and now photographer.  I am not a photographer.  I will never be a photographer.  However, with the help of my super friend Bethany, I experimented with a few lenses and learned how to use Photo shop.  When a few of my friends found it hard to find a photographer for their Christmas cards, I said I would be happy to test out the skills.  Again, not a photographer, but pretty happy with what I got to do last weekend with one of my favorite families.

Meet the S family.  Momma S and I have been friends since high school.  We love to bake, drink the champs and cook and just had our one year anniversary of taking cooking classes together.  Her house is impeccable, her husband is a doll {and can pretty much dance any dude under the table} and I love the tiny little spitting image of Momma.  I adore everything about this little family.  Thanks for letting me hang with you guys.  See, you can get some pretty great pictures of a squirmy 3 year old.
